The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and fervour all over India and St. Peter’s too commemorated the day with unprecedented enthusiam. Even though the day witnessed the rough weather with violent storms brewing, it didn’t dampen our patriotic spirit. The celebration began in the school premises with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Guest of Honour Capt. Ashish Sharma, the officer-in-charge, Signal School, Naval Base, Kochi. The meeting was presided over by the Principal and Mr. Raju C Jacob, the Secretary (St. Peter’s Education Trust), graced the occasion. Capt. Sharma addressed the gathering with his patriotic words highlighting the need for national integration in the present day scenario. He spoke highly of the dignified armed forces that safeguard our nation day-in and day-out. The national leaders and freedom fighters were remembered with gratitude for the great sacrifices they had offered for the cause of Indian Independence. The gamut of celebration consisted of a scintillating dance performance and group song igniting the young minds with patriotic verve. The celebration came to a close with the distribution of sweets savouring the sweetness of freedom.
