Independence Day Celebration
St.Peter’s Senior Secondary School celebrated the 71st Independence Day on Tuesday, the 15th August, 2017 with ardent patriotic zeal and spirit befitting the occasion. The tri colour flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest of the day, Brigadier N.V.Nair. The dignitaries were escorted by the school senate members. Thereafter, the cultural programme began with prayer song by the school choir which set the pitch of the programme. Brigadier N.V.Nair addressed the school, emphasizing the need for self-discipline,freedom and liberty as essential ingredients for the country’s growth and development. He urged today’s generation to value the freedom we have secured , as a result of the sacrifice of many freedom fighters. Competitions like patriotic song, declamation, collage were held prior to the day. The first prize winners were given chances to perform on the stage. The House of Righteousness enthralled the audience with patriotic songs. The House of Compassion presented a documentary on the freedom fighters of Independent India. Dances were choreographed to spread the message of unity in diversity and peace. “A Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi” a documentary was also screened. The ceremony came to a close with the vote of thanks and distribution of sweets which sweetened the celebrations.
