Greetings from St. Peter’s…
With a deep sense of exhilaration and delectation I present the Annual Report of the year 2017-18. On this joyous moment of Golden Jubilee year, I thank each and every one for your relentless support and encouragement; the dedication and untiring efforts that have taken St. Peter’s to the towering heights of success and accomplishments.
As everything glistened in the golden rays of the Peterian Glory we added yet another precious jewel to the Regal Diadem of St. Peter’s by being ranked 1st in the City wise Survey conducted by Education Today.
A GLIMPSE OF THE ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS
With high expectation and academic rigour, Peterians started their journey through the year 2017-18 on 1st June 2017. The academic prowess of Peterians were proved again with the 100 percentage success in the class X and XII examinations. Class XII students of 2016-17 batch excelled in the AISSCE Examination. Out of 197 students appeared, 154 scored distinction and 43 bagged first class. Sneha Ajith (Commerce) and Nazmia Ebrahim (Science) emerged the school toppers by securing 486 and 482 marks respectively. Peterians added yet another golden feather by achieving centum for various subjects. (Karthik Prabhakar and Alan Shibu for Mathematics; Vinu M. George for Computer Science and Sneha Ajith for Business Studies.)
It was a moment of great pride when Class X students secured 100 percent victory in the AISSE Examinations. Out of the 177 students appeared 66 secured all A1 and 160 secured distinctions.
This year’s events and celebrations got kick started with the Observation of the World Environment Day on June 5th. It was merged with the Carbon Club aimed to educate students on the ill effects of carbon emission.
THE MERIT EVENT was conducted on 17th June 2017 to honour the toppers of the AISSCE examinations. Shri. Thomson Jose IPS, the Ernakulam Vigilance SP, the chief guest reminded the students of their responsibilities and the importance to remain focussed in their studies and dreams.
The ANNUAL ELECTION to select the Senate of the academic year 2017-18 was held on 15 June 2017. Students from Grades IX to XII cast their vote using Electronic Voting Machine, specially designed by the computer faculty. P. Krishnanunni was elected the School Head boy and Cyra Sumit the School Head girl.
The much awaited event of the year, the INVESTITURE CEREMONY was held on 22 June 2017. The newly elected senate members were adorned with sashes. It instilled leadership qualities in students and opened a plethora of opportunities to experience the administrative powers.
DOCTOR’S DAY was celebrated on 6 July 2017. Dr.Chithira, microbiologist from MOSC Medical College, Kolenchery addressed the students on health and hygiene.
INTER HOUSE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT commenced in July 2017 and the House of Truth emerged the winner.
Students had a tryst with PI during PI APPROXIMATION DAY celebrated in the school on July 22nd under the initiative of the Maths Club.
The young Peterian fans of HARRY POTTER, the eponymous hero, celebrated his 20th birthday on 31st July participating in various programmes organized in our school library.
On 27 July 2017 St. Peter’s too joined the nation in commemorating THE DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM, the People’s President.
With great zeal and enthusiasm, Peterians savoured the essence of the Peterian cultural gala, ‘SYLVAN SYMPHONY’ on the 1st and 2nd of August 2017. The House of Righteousness emerged the champions. The Sylvan Symphony for classes 1 and 2 was held on 31 October 2017. The students, with their literary skills and artistic flair, put up a grand spectacle.
The interschool cultural competition, ENSEMBLE 2017, a banquet of cultural iridescence was conducted on 11th August 2017. Participants from around 13 schools competed in various events. Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery won the Overall championship. Bhavans Newsprint Vidyalaya and Vidyodaya public School, Thevakkal emerged the 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.
Young Peterians celebrated the 71ST INDEPENDENCE DAY, with great fervor and enthusiasm. It was an extreme pleasure and honour to have Brigadier N.V. Nair, the former head of the Artillery in the Kashmir valley and the first Brigadier from Kerala, as the chief guest on this occasion .We saluted our mother land by hoisting the tri colour flag. Patriotic song, declamation, a scintillating dance performance and a video presentation by the students filled everyone’s heart with patriotism.
PHOTOGRAPHY DAY was celebrated on 19th August 2017 to commemorate the world photography day. An exhibition was conducted as a part of it.
In commemoration of the birthday of Dr.Radhakrishnan, the great academician and former President of our nation, we celebrated TEACHERS’ DAY in our school on 30 August 2017. Various programmes organized by the students made the day a cherishable one reminding everyone the nobility of teaching profession.
Transcending the shadow lines of caste, culture and religion, St. Peter’s celebrated ONAM with great fervour and enthusiasm.
THE GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS of St. Peter’s Senior Secondary School, Kadayiruppu, came to an end with the Valedictory Function held on 22 September 2017 at 3pm in the C V J Auditorium. The highpoint of the celebration was the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Block by the Chief Guest of the day, District Collector of Ernakulam Shri.K.Mohammed Y Safirulla. The guests were welcomed by the Secretary of St. Peter’s Education Trust, Shri. Raju C Jacob.In his presidential address, Guest of Honour Shri. V J Kurian IAS, Managing Director of CIAL, recalled his visit to this institution thirty years ago as Asst.Collector of Ernakulam and expressed his happiness to see the growth of this renowned institution.
St. Peter’s hosted the SAHODAYA, REGIONAL KALOTSAV for category III on 28th October 2017.
November 1St, the KERALA PIRAVI day was celebrated under the guidance of Malayalam Department with a plethora of events, highlighting the rich cultural tradition of Kerala.
CHILDREN’S DAY: a day of innocence, playfulness and freedom was celebrated on November 14 2017, the birthday of the ‘man who loved children and rose flowers’. The Hindi and Science Departments organized various colourful programmes for the students. Renowned poet and lyricist, Jayakumar Chengamanadu was the chief guest.
ACCOLADES IN SPORTS AND GAMES
INTERHOUSE THROWBALL COMPETITION was conducted on 17th August 2017. The House of Loyalty emerged winner and the House of Righteousness secured the second position.
It was indeed a remarkable achievement for St. Peter’s Throw Ball Team with their stupendous performance in the ERNAKULAM DISTRICT JUNIOR THROWBALL CHAMPIONSHIP held at COCHIN REFINERY SCHOOL, our boys and girls team won SECOND and THIRD positions respectively.
In the 16TH KERALA STATE SUB JUNIOR THROWBALL CHAMPIONSHIP held on 29th and30th April at GUJARAT VIDYALAYA, Mattancherry, seven of our students represented the team. Master. Hrishikesh Siv of class VIII was selected the best player in the Kerala State Level Championship.
In the National Sub Junior Throw Ball Championship held in Telengana, our students steered the teams in the role of Captian and Vice-Captian.
PETERIANS’ MAIDEN ATTEMPT IN THE FASTEST GROWING SPORTS –TRIATHLON ON 29 AUGUST2017: A multiple-stage inter- house competition involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines was held in the school premises. It involved swimming, cycling and running in immediate succession over various distances. The House of Joy emerged winner and The House of Compassion was the runner up.
THE ANNUAL ATHLETICS MEET for the year 2017-18 was held on 10th November 2017. It was a stunning spectacle. Commander Manoj Kumar inaugurated the meet. Competitions were held house wise. The House of Loyalty emerged the Sports Champions. The Houses of Joy and Compassion won the First and the Second Runners Up positions respectively.
Our students participated in the CBSE STATE ATHLETICS MEET on 26, 27, 28 and 29th of October 2017 held at Muncipal Synthetic Stadium, Pala. 116 schools participated in the meet and we secured the 9th position. Jerin Jaison of class 11 secured the first prize in High Jump for U/19 Boys. Thomas K. Kallungal bagged the second position in the 3000mts running race. Mohammed Mehboob Shaikh secured the second position in the 1500mts. Sara Peter bagged the second prize in 800mts. Our team secured the second position in the under 14 boys’ 4x100mts relay. All the four participated in the National Level in Allons Public School, Bemetara Raipur, Chattisgarh.
In the ALL KERALA MARIAN AQUATIC CHAMPIONSHIP 2017, Peterians bagged eight medals.
In the VIDYODAYA TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT our junior girls secured the second position.
Peterians stole the show by winning the Overall First Runner-up position IN MAR ATHANASIUS CHAMPIONSHIP 2017. We won the football championship against Rajagiri Christujayanthi 1-9. We got the first Runner – up position in Athletics with 15 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 15 bronze medals. We reached the second Runner up position in swimming with 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 5 bronze medals.
Peterians bagged eight medals in The Aquatic Meet held on 11th August 2017 at St. Mary’s School, Thamarachal.
In the Don Bosco Trophy Aquatic Championship held on 12th January 2018 at Don Bosco School, Vaduthala, we won the championship in U/11 category. Master Kian Ibrahim of class 2 was the individual champion.
Mariya Theresa Toji of class 2 secured two medals in roller-skating competition held in Calicut. She bagged the first position in All Kerala Malabar Roller-skating Competition Ring 2 and Ring 3.
RECOGNITION AND AWARD
Manu M. Warrier of Class 12 secured the first rank and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5000 in The Commerce Talent Scholarship for the toppers in class 11 organized by the Kerala Commerce Forum in association with Logic School of Management.
In the National Genius Search Exam conducted Giana Henry of class 4, Sreya susan paul of class 8, Basil Thomas of class 9 & Sara Swetha Thomas of class 8 have been qualified for the Advanced levels of NGSC Examination.
Peterians added another feather to the golden crown of St. Peter’s as they bagged the overall championship in the cultural and art extravaganza FRESCO hosted by RAJAGIRI CHRISTHU JAYANTHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, KAKKANAD. It created a platform for the students to showcase their talents. It was indeed a proud moment for our school .We bagged first prizes in English Street Play, Short film ‘The Entwined ‘, Drawing, Bilingual artistry and the like.
In VOX POPULI held at VIDYODAYA PUBLIC SCHOOL, Thevakkal,Peterians bagged the runner up position.
DHEERAM, a short film on the theme of fear, won SPECIAL JURY AWARD in SCREEN SCAPES 2017, in the All Kerala Seven Day Inter School Short Film Challenge organised by Westford Institute of Film Technology in association with Greets Public School.
In DROMOS, the cultural extravaganza organized by Marthoma Public School, we were the second runner-up.
St.Peter’s team won the first runner up position and a cash prize of Rs.4500 in the CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP hosted by Jyothi Nivas Public School,Aluva.
Peterians emerged champions with 101 points in the Ernakulam District Inter SCHOOL KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 held at Kavungalparambu, West Chelakkulam.
25 of our students visited Navy Children School, Ernakulam on 17th of October 2017 as part of the STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMME. .
STUDENTS SCIENCE FESTIVAL OF KERALA (SSFK -_2017 organized by Janmabhumi Daily was held on 2nd and 3rd of November. Master Eldhose Abraham and Master Basil .M.Binu of Class IX and Kumari .Sreya Susan Paul of Class VIII participated. The project Carbondioxide-An Enhancer of Our Future (using carbon dioxide as an enhancing agent in the geothermal plant) secured us the first position. The participants qualified for the state level competition. The school will be honoured with a cash prize of Rs.25000/- .
Our students participated in the MODEL UNITED NATIONS held at Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery. Susan Cheruvillil of Class 7 and Issac of Class 9 were selected best delegates.
BPC College, Piravom conducted BIZ QUIZ COMPETITION. Our students bagged the first and the second positions. Emil Thomas Johny and Albi Thampi of class 12E secured the first prize and Gloria Benjamin and Manu M. Warrier of 12 F secured the second prize.
TEACHERS’ ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME
With a view to be constructive and dynamic professionals and to equip teachers with the necessary skills and techniques for effective classroom teaching, various enrichment programmes were organized for the teachers.
A full day workshop was conducted for the teachers by the Macmillan Education. Dr.N.K.Vijayan Karippal, the Principal of P.U College,Valachil, Mangalore was the resource person of the day .
Several subject teachers attended workshop within and outside the State as part of teacher enrichment programme.
STUDENTS’ ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES
A career guidance session was organized for the students of the ECO CLUB along with the Class X students on 24 August 2017. The resource person for the day was Mr. Muralee Thummarukudy, the Chief of Disaster Risk Reduction in the United Nations Environment Programme.
PARENTS’ ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME
An orientation programme, LIONS QUEST- Skills for Adolescence was organized by the LIONS CLUB on 24th October 2017 from 1.30- 2.30pm in the CVJ Auditorium. Students from classes 6-9 and their parents attended the session.
To hone latent skills in co-scholastic areas, students of Classes VI – XII are provided structured activities.
Experts and professionals are invited to interact with the students. The areas covered under club activities are as follows:
SOCIAL SERVICE CLUB observed World Alzheimer’s day as part of the club activities. As part of social service, the club took the initiative to collect used clothes for the leprosy patients.
SCIENCE CLUB set apart a day to commemorate the death anniversary of the Missile Man of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Celebrated International Youth Day and observed Hiroshima and Nagasaki day. A special assembly and programmes were conducted on the world ozone day. An exhibition was conducted to showcase the scientific fervour of students.
READING CLUB organized a variety of programmes to foster reading skills in students. Harry Potter’s day was celebrated by organizing various competitions and activities.
MATHEMATICS CLUB organized an exhibition displaying thevarious geometrical shapes. They also conducted a picture composition competition.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS CLUB organized an awareness programme by Proctor and Gamble Health Care for girls.
QUIZ CLUB took the initiative to prepare students for the external quiz competitions. A Whatsapp group is created to update the information.
ECO CLUB observed the World Environment day by planting saplings. Carbon Club was inaugurated. A plant sapling day was also organized.
PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB organized a photography exhibition to honour the great photographers. A photography competition was also organized by the club.
SPEAKERS’ FORUM conducted various elocution competitions for the students to develop their oratory skills.
ATAL TINKERING LAB (ATL) sanctioned by NITI Ayog for the students to develop a scientific temper as well as cultivating the spirit of curiosity and creativity, was inaugurated in our school by Shri Raju C. Jacob, Secretary of St. Peter’s Education Trust on 19 October 2017.
INFRASTRUCTURE: The inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Block by the Honourable District Colllector, Shri Muhammed Y. Safirulla was an epoch marking event in the golden pages of St. Peter’s.
VISITS AND PICNICS
Going beyond the classroom walls and textbooks…comprehending the wonders that are beyond the syllabus and to gain first-hand knowledge and experience and augment academic learning, various tours and field trips were organized.
This annual report is much more than a summary of the year that was. It’s a reflection of the school ethos, a statement of our unwavering personal commitment, the conviction with which we pursue our goals and the very spirit with which we at St. Peter’s work. In Einstein’s words we believe that “The most important motive for work in school is pleasure in work, pleasure in its result and the knowledge of the value of the result to the community.
In conclusion, we wish to express our most sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed their mite to the making of this glorious institution. Since inception we have been blessed with visionary leaders whose imagination, insight and courage called forth the best in teachers and students alike and united them around a shared sense of purpose. Our thanks are due in no small measures to them.
On this occasion we wish to express our gratitude to Dr. C .T. Abraham, President of the St. Peter’s Education Trust, Shri. Raju C Jacob the Secretary of St.Peter’s Education Trust whose inspiring leadership motivated Team St. Peter’s to reach higher and higher levels of Achievements in Academics, Sports and Co-Scholastic areas as well.
The school is fortunate to have a happy team of committed, competent teachers whose passion for teaching and love for the school has played a vital role in every one of our achievements. We wish to thank our non-teaching staff who work relentlessly for the smooth functioning of the school. We are privileged to partner with enthusiastic, engaged parents whose trust, understanding and unstinted support been a great source of motivation to us.

It’s our students who made all our efforts truly meaningful and rewarding by their significant effort to do their best and becoming knowledgeable, skilled and responsible citizens. We are proud of every one of them.
